About
The shortest version: I build machine learning systems and AI systems.
There is a thread that runs through all of it. I want to know how things work. Not the surface answer, the one underneath. What is the mechanism. Where does it break. Whether the explanation we hand each other is real or just a story we tell to feel less unsure.
That instinct is what drew me to physics first, then to AI. A model that returns the right answer for the wrong reason is, in a real way, a model that does not work yet. I find this question interesting in roughly the same way I find people interesting. We are all running on something underneath. I would like to know what.
I work as a Software Developer at metricHEALTH Solutions, on a team that received the 2024 Barrie Mayor's Award for Research and Innovation. I am also a Library Associate at Barrie Public Library, where I spent a year designing and teaching a youth STEM program because I believe public libraries are one of the last places in our world where access still means access. I sit on a research and evaluation committee for the Ontario Public Library Association.
Outside of all of that, I read more books than is probably useful. I go for biking when the weather allows it. I am working on being kinder to strangers and faster at email.
If any of this resonates and you are building something in scientific AI/ML, MLOps tooling, or interpretable ML, I would like to hear from you. Remote or relocation, both work.
My Motto — Ad astra per aspera. Through hardships, to the stars.

Range
Software developer at metricHEALTH Solutions in Barrie, Ontario, working on clinical data pipelines, FHIR integrations, automated test infrastructure, and production MLOps for healthcare reporting. Background in physics and mathematics, with two postgraduate certificates from Georgian College in Big Data Analytics and AI Design and Implementation. Two research papers in preparation: interpretability of a LightGBM stellar spectral classifier on Gaia-ESO Survey UVES data, and a paired-data RAG study on structured FHIR versus LLM-narrative retrieval for clinical question answering. Outside metricHEALTH, I serve as a Library Associate at Barrie Public Library and contribute to the Ontario Public Library Association's Research and Evaluation Committee, where I helped present results from the OPLA Employee Psychological Safety Survey at the OLA Super Conference. I served on the board of Firebird Community Cycle from September 2022 to March 2026. The metricHEALTH team I work with received the City of Barrie's Mayor's Award for Research and Innovation in 2024. The thread through it all: technology that holds up under real conditions for the person using it.
